Hello.

The central heating stopped working on our Powermax 155x boiler last week. The dial on the thermostat had recently broken off so I replaced the thermostat and the heating started working so I assumed the issue was sorted, however the next day it stopped working and hasn't been on since. Hot water is fine.

Plumber came out on Friday, took the screw off the pump and a ridiculous amount of water came out. He then confirmed that the pump would need changing but we haven't heard from him since, apart from to say he was waiting for a price from the merchant.

Does anyone have any advice on where to source a new CH pump from?

Is there anything we can do in the meantime e.g. I read on the forum about putting washing up liquid into the pump via the screw hole? Might only be a temporary solution but I have two small children so would help if we could have some heating while we're waiting for the plumber to source the part!

Thanks in advance for any help. After wasting time with the thermostat we're now desperate for heating :(

It's just a standard pump but a pain to fit....don't expect him back!

As mentioned by ollski,a standard pump is more than suitable. Did the plumber check for correct voltage at the ch pump ?
