OK, I FINALLY got the bits and bobs to make my crimp joint, but have never crimped before. I have done a practice using two bit of T&E and want to know what you think. I did not use sleeving on the earth, because it was only a practice, but will do on the real thing. I can see I haven't pushed the wires far enough on some of them, but will make sure I do that correctly on the proper.

Just wanted to know if I have done anything, wrong, majorly wrong, badly or well?

If thats 2.5mm² then then CPC will be 1.5mm² and will have a better joint if you use a red crimp not blue.Remember to stagger the joints if possible (it makes a smaller overall joint, albeit longer)

Oh, I thought it was the same size! I don't have any red ones, so will have to make do with blue ones.

Nothing wrong with it then(apart from what I mentioned above and not staggering), right?

You really need red crimps for the earth. Use earth sleeving to cover the earth conductor too. I think you also have some phase/neutral conductors showing, the insulation needs to be stripped back so as it goes into the top of the crimp but not so much as causes problems with the connection.
What are you using this for, is it for a joint in a broken cable or something?

Spot on.
Just noticed too, when you apply the crimp pliers, you need to crimp the inside i.e. the inner metal tube, you appear to be crimping the edge.
Maybe Rob has a picture ;)

I can't wait for something to cheer me up as I won't be watching MOTD, but thats another story

Ah, brilliant RF and empip, Thanks

Will crimp further in aswell, as in the pic.

I bought some red crimps today, but am only left with one. The reason is because I have tried so many times to get a tight crimp between the Earthc cores, but they keep pulling apart. I have only manged to do one successfully.
