As some of my precision screwdrivers appear to have gone walk about and my old set of jewelers screwdrivers were a bit rubbish. Does anyone have any makes they'd recommend?
For use on IT equipment, go to your local pound shop. There you should be able to get a set of precision bits and screwdriver handle. Give 'em a try, they may be adequate and a quid is not a lot to "speculate" The set I bought several months ago, so far, has worked well.
A decent set lasts years, I have some that are 30+ years old if I can find them.
The cheapo ones from the supermarket (stanley) have worn within a few weeks.
no I dont really want pound shop drivers, they're likely to be softer than the screws themselves. specifically the problem with my old set other than a few were missing, is that it was very difficult to get any purchase on them as they dont have a handle as such.
The pound shop bit set I have are steel with a 4mm hex shank. I warmed them up on the gas hob and quenched the bits in used engine oil. This case-hardened them, making them much stronger. An old trick!

I feel a bit of a noob now. I have a full set of wera screwdrivers and afull set of whia bits. Didn't think either did precision screwdrivers! one slight disappointment is that neither of the sets include a PH000. 1st world problem I guess
