I have a 64-w system, some wired zones, some wireless. Installed and programmed this all myself years ago. Anyways, few days ago it started randomly false alarming from one of the wireless door contacts...... i wont go into details but in my rushed state to set the sensor to 'not used' i tried doing it from the control panel rather than get the laptop and find the com cable and somewhere in that process i have completely messed up the panel.

I ended up with the internal sounder going off and it seems the panel no longer finds the devices and the engineer/user codes no longer work. Re-installing the program from wintex doesn't help. Using the 1,2,3,4 and 5,6,7,8 codes i have silenced the panel and it is asking me to confirm devices. Looks to me like it is no longer seeing the devices and therefore would i be better off doing factory reset and re-learning all the devices? This seem the way forward?

If so can anyone give me a brief step by step as my memory is a little hazy -

1, i remember having to put it into commision mode with a jumper at some point?

2, If i relearn the devices in the same order they appear on my wintex program i can then just resend over the wintex program i have saved on the laptop at the end?

3, Regarding the bellboxes, when i am re-learning these will they go off when i remove the cover, i only ask because if i factory reset then the panel wont be seeing them anymore. If they will go off, how do i quickly shut them off. I will likely unscrew from the wall and relearn them at the panel.

Thanks for looking.

I can’t see how you have caused this by making one zone not used ? ….what else did you do ? …anyway just reload your profile from wintex it should be ok

I obviously did more than i should have but cant really remember now, dont ask - bad day, rushing about, doing a million things at once etc.

Reloading the profile does nothing, the panel wouldn't even accept the engineer or user codes and was just alarming internally until i managed to use the generic codes. It appears it has lost connection to the devices - how would i check this? Use the richocet monitor?

Ok ….if it’s defaulted you need to put in the UDL code or it won’t let you download the wintex profile ….what does it say on wintex when you try to connect to panel….also what com port are you plugging onto ? Com1 or Com 2

Well it was in constant alarm and nothing silenced it so i disconnected the panel lid and internal sounder. When i then connected wintex and looked at the diagnostics i remember i had 3 red lights - one was confirm devices, another was the UDL but to be honest i didn't know what this meant at the time?

When i used the wintex keypad, my engineer and user codes didn't work so i used 1,2,3,4 and 5,6,7,8...… this took the panel out of system alerts and i had a few errors, one of which was 'confirm devices'. The red UDL light in the diagnostics disappeared at this point and left me with confirm devices and another which i cant remember.

I tried using COM1 and COM2 - tbh i didn't think it mattered and they were both the same?

Put into engineering
Remove lid
Put com lead on com2
Open wintex …choose saved ( original profile ) , select connect by pc com ….does it connect ? It should say at the bottom screen , if not what warnings does it com with ? Check that the UDL is 1234 ( default in wintex ) at the panel in UDL options it will probably be blank …enter 1234 and try again …first thing if it connects send data TO PANEL , do this twice …then come back

Got it into engineering mode, Com2 connected ok, UDL at the panel is 1234, sent account data to panel twice......

On the diagnostic tab in wintex i have 3 red leds now.

Engineer working
system open
UDL enabled

Onto keypad and check zones are all the descriptors back in the panel , exit engineer and check that your original codes are in …

Ok, for whatever reason the engineer and user codes had ended up back at 1234 and 5678, mine were erased. The area programming also seemed screwed up as the quick arm and part arm functions i had set were lost.

I managed to get the ricochet monitor working and luckily all my wireless devices were still working and communicating, the original problem door contact was in tamper - on inspection it looks as though the plastic is warped and condensation has gotten in. I have changed all batteries on the system including the external sounders whilst i was at it and programmed wintex so the problem door contact zone 12 is not used.

It all arms and behaves as i would expect, walk tests and bell tests fine.

So going forward i will order a new wireless door contact. I want to unlearn the damaged one and then relearn the replacement in the same zone ideally and then i can just set it back to the guard function it was on.

1, How do i unlearn a device?
2, How do i learn the new one and does this involve using the jumper on the panel to enter commission mode or do i not have to do that?

The ricochet monitor matrix view shows nothing complicated - the expander is connected directly to each device but im unsure if i will need to do any re-meshing by adding this one device?

Appreciate the help!

I think ( as I don’t really do wireless on the texecom ) you go to device and press “ reset reset “ to delete it ( off top of my head )

Zone setup, zone number, reset starts counting down press reset it deletes off.

Press reset again it deletes off the system.

Don’t forget to put into commissioning mode after you have learned the device on and to take it off after commissioning has finished
