I have purchased a gas fire that is being installed by a corgi fitter next week. in order to get the fire to fit into the fireplace hole i had to knock out the fireback (cast ceramic / plaster type thing).
I need to know if I have to reinstate some kind of fireback or whether the fire unit can just be installed into the fireplace with the bricks exposed as they are in the photos below.
I need to put the marble surround on but dont want to if i have to reinstate the fireback as it would need to be taken off again.
Thanks in advance
Luke
