Bristan thermostatic deck mounted bath/shower mixer. Vaillant combi boiler.

The hot water travels maybe 50+ feet to the hot tap, through the boiler and numerous 90 degree elbows. The cold travels maybe 12 feet. From where the mains ends.

So the therm mixer isn't really working like it should. Can't quite get it hot enough, and still get big variations of temp if other water is drawn. Not as bad as it used to be with the plain mixer, but still a long way from as it should be.

I thought about putting a pressure reduction valve on the cold, which is easier from a plumbing point, but I may as well get the full benefit of an equalising valve.

On-line I see these:

there seems to be a 001 and 002 version of that. Only difference I can see is one is 'commercial' and chrome plated.

A lot of these look like they may be the same, badged differently.

Any reccomendations/experience?

Also, can I fit inline strainers anywhere, like going up to the whole bathroom?

Cheers.

I had a similar problem a couple of times and was getting told all this stuff about pressure reducing valves but in both cases it was a faulty thermostatic valve.

Of course check the H and C are the correct way round!!
