Hello, sorry this is probably a really stupid question but I’m a complete novice. I will call a plumber if needed but I do like to try to figure things out for myself and learn something new if I can!

Found a leak under the bath, it was coming from a part called ‘pressure equalising valve’ so I’ve taken that out and bypassed it for now. Having read a bit about pressure equalising valves im wondering if I need to replace it, but the advice online is conflicting. I have a combi boiler. The valve would likely have been there 23 years since the building was made.

Would you recommend getting a replacement part or not? Thank you

If you can post a pic of the offending article?

If you have a combi and it's cold mains then no, there should be no need for a balancing valve.

This is it, I only have cold water feeding into the boiler if that’s what cold mains means?

The shower seems to be working fine, maybe the water is a bit stronger than before but I could be imagining it

Ah yep, pressure balancing valve indeed.

No I meant if all the cold water in the house is from the mains, as the hot water from the combi obviously is. It probably will be, was just in case it was known. If the hot and cold is working fine then just leave it as is.
