Yes, should only be fitted by an installer who has undergone the appropriate training and assessment. Unvented cylinders are potentially dangerous and are not suitable for DIY installation.

Loads of regs to follow, and Qualifications to have and authorities to inform

if you have to ask those questions then, and i am not being rude or flippant, you cannot do the job yourself

Thanks, thought it would require a plumber to install. Just wanted to check. Does anyone have any experience of them in use..are they better than standard cylinder and tank in roof ?

if you have the correct water pressure, flow rate and diameter mains pipe then they kick arse if not they are just a pain in the arse

I know many here think I'm an old stick in the mud, but I don't see the need. For your shower fit a power shower or a cyclone shower, for your bath 22mm pipework fills the bath sufficiently fast from an open vent system.

The whole need for unvented is a mirrage created by manufacturers to sell you something.

Yes, doesn't one of the manufacturers call it a cyclone system or am I geting mixed up with washing power?

Only two venturi showers on the market are the Trevi Boost and the New Team Jetstream (a bit like cyclone I suppose).

Or by property developers, to sell you a flat, in which unvented systems are a godsend.

No there are more Chris I've fitted generic shower customer bought fro bnq which requires mains cold gravity hot, very cheap (think it was £50, may have been an offer at that time) and worked a treat. Absolutely makes an ass of the need for unvented.

Flats are a possible exception, but no householder with a loft should be going to such great expense in terms of parts and installation cost.

I understood that those (Croydex H2O) are no longer manufactured.

what are the maintenance schedules for these systems so as to meet the expectations of buildings insurers.

You don't want to be paying out of your own pocket if it takes out the corner of your own house and the neighbours too.
