Preview of Frank Gehry's new building in Hyde Parh London.

Er ... what is it?

Looks like some beams from an old barn and some demolition in the background.

Have they cleared the site yet before starting?

Or is it one of those escher images?

Dundee, oh right,
Tesco's in Scotland, (Where the sweaties shop.)

BTW, Franks new building is only there for 3 months apparently.
(What a waste of good timber)
And, no I don't know who is footing the bill for this nonsense either.

It's not really up there with the Guggenheim in Bilbao, though, is it?

How long did that take on a sketch pad? Is this merely the manifestation of a conceptual doodle, idly created during a very boring seminar on architects' fee scales, perhaps? The man has become a poor caricature of himself.

PS Chess, he's a Septic, so he's not really one of "ours"...!

Top Architect or not, this work is crapp. And like many of the arty types who reach such heights, they trade on their name and get a following on that basis alone - regardless of whether the work is actually any good or not.

Compare this to the Turner prize winning Martin Creed. A well respected artist (from within his profession) but his work his crapp. His Turner prize winner from 2001(?) was a lightbulb going on and off. His latest exihition at the Tate is a runner sprinting around the museum every 30 seconds.

The point is, the name is nothing, and the work is everything

Agree 100% Woodster.

Now, Santiago Calatrava on the other hand...utterly, utterly fantastic. Well, he would be - he's an SE as well as an architect. Which is just showing off, frankly .

All good points boys.
BTW Shy, An architect can never be 'one of ours' ( The architect of confusion take the place of Old Nick after all.)
So it's Brickies as High Priests and other trades as acolytes.
