Printer not working

Type of printer, make/model, age, have you been through all the diagnostic things and print head alignment stuff etc?
Usually a black line on the print side would indicate something in the optical path of the exposure lamp or scanner on a laser printer. If it's an ink jet you may just need to run print head cleaning procedure. If it is a laser printer or similar you need to look at the optics or exposure area
