Problem in Oil Pipe To Tank.

the red button that you have reset is more likely to be the burner remote reset.(if it was a square button).

It seems that you may still have a small air leak on your oil supply line connections somewhere between the tank and the burner.

You also have a problem as if the detail you gave was that the fuel pump has to suck the oil up at least 9 feet. The recommended max is 8ft from these pumps

As far as the system wasting fuel to maintain the heatstore then i'm afraid you are stuck with that and should have had a convential system installed.

That aside it does mean that when you ask for heating your rads are heated directly from this stored heat and then this store is re heated to the temp you have selected with the hot water dial.

Hello snb and thank you for your input.

Regarding a possible oil leak, would that not have caused the 'Lock Out' button to trip?

I will do an exact measurment of hight and distance to Boiler for oil tomorrow.

"should have had a convential system installed". I am under the impression that Condensing Boilers are the only option now for Oil due to EU Law.?

I cannot get Gas here.

I didn't think that my heating was helped from the Water Store Heat tank. I thought that tank was just to store H.W. for general house use?

My comments are from someone who has perhaps learned a little but still knows next to nothing you understand! :)

conventional system as in condensing heat only boiler connected to a hot water cylinder

O.K.....got it :) ...Thank You.

At the time of purchase I was not aware of this difference and just assumed that condensing Boilers all did both heating and hot water. It seemed a natural way to go anyway. How was I to know that if I wanted a Combination Boiler then I would have to pay for constant hot water whether I wanted it or not?

Hindsight is a wonderfull thing and with the benefit of it I would have opted for your example.
In fact with hindsight I would not have had a Condensing Boiler at all. But of course I have to have one because of the EU and the likes of John ***ing Prescott. Just like I have no choice in the type of light bulbs I can have at home. Another BIG mistake Tony Blair signed us up for.

Funny you should say that as I already had a large Water Tank fed from the previous boiler. I had that taken out.

Big mistake it seems.

It is well documented here that I absolutely hate the fact that I have to have hot water if the heating is on even if I ruddy well don't want it :!:

I suppose my comments will bring the Knacker Kickers back from out of the shadows.

Regarding the pipe from the tank. It is a total of 30 foot from the tank to the tiger loop. The first part of the oils travel involves going up f 3' 6" up to ground level.

Hello again guys. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the below E. Mail from Worcesters Area Service Manager. Although I do not agree with his assumption that the Boiler broke down wholy because of the problem in the pipe identified by you guys. Arguably (O.K. very arguably)! I believe that this could possibly? have happened because the Boiler had broke down anyway (Otherwise why would the original Engineer do what he did to the work he carried out on the Boiler)? and the problem in the oil pipe happened in freezing temps. because there was no movement in the line calling for oil because the Boiler had broken down anyway. This of course cannot be proved one way or another.

I am pleased to say that I have had no further problems and the Heating and Water(still on all of the time)! are working just fine.

However, I want to write back and thank the area Service Manager and wonder if anyone would like to say anything further about the issue?

I will keep my nuts covered!

Mr Thain

Firstly pleas accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your complaint.

Once again thank you for your feedback regarding your oil line issue. I have asked for our Technical Liaison Officer to send you a response about the issue you have relating to the timer and preheating on your appliance and I would like to answer your point relating to the replacement of the oil pump.

The oil pump is lubricated by the Kerosene and should the oil supply fail such as in this instance the pump can fail and seize due to being run dry. I have read your correspondence on the forum and notice "Burner man" on 22January @ 10:20pm posted a response to you to be careful how many times you try to reset the lockout button. Oil pumps are very reliable and last many years, but premature failure can occur if run dry or there are contaminates in the supply such as water ingress. It is still our opinion, and reading your postings that the fault was caused by an external pipe/filter which is outside our area of responsibility under warranty and should be dealt with by your installer. With this in mind I do not agree that the appliancefailed before the oil supply issue occurred.

I can understand your frustration that you felt our first engineer just drove away. When I investigated this matter I am confident that he had tried many ways to re establish your oil supply on both visits but was unable toat that time.

I am sorry you feel you have no confidence in your product but I can assure you our appliances are of very high quality and are thoroughly tested within the market place. We can not however be held responsible for an externalfuel supply issue i.e. if a new car was to breakdown and there was found to be no fuel, the manufacturer would not be held responsible.

I hope this answers the questions you have raised, If you have anymore problems please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Hello again guys. I do hope that you are keeping well. Some further advice would be very much appreciated.

I want to replace those set of connections joined to the Tank outlet following the possibility that this area may have caused my problems last winter.

I want that sorted before my Annual Service beginning August 2011.

I don't need that clear plasic oil monitor now as I have purchased and fitted a Watchman Sonic Oil Level Monitor. Its working fine and shows that I have just under half of a 2,690 ltr tank full. (This agrees with the plastic tube monitor).

I can do reasonable plumbing jobs and a Travis Perkins is nearby.

Is it possible for me to put a new set of connections on or had I better send for the Cavalry? Right now I would not know how to stop the oil supply to tho'se connections. The first little screw just outside the Tank doesn't seem to do it?

If I have to call in the Cavalry will any Plumber be able to do it or is it specialist work?

Photo's of the connections to the tank are already uploaded.

Thank you in anticipation of a reply.

Best Regards

Kenny Thain.
