For some reason I can only turn the CH on with the HW too but I can turn the HW on without the CH. I have two friends on the same estate as me who can turn the CH or HW totally independant of each other but then I know someone else who lives on a different estate as us who cannot. Can anyone please shed some light on this. I am guessing that the controller is as old as the house, 6 years.

There are little black jumpers on the back of the clock to set different options but I wonder why yours has been set that way. Perhaps you have a different setup to others on your estate?

Their setup looks the same as ours. Could these jumpers be accidentally changed when the control unit was installed?

Sounds like the programmer is set for gravity hot water whereas it should be fully pumped. Check MI's for correct placement of the jumpers.

I had a plumber mention to me that the system was fully pumped as far as he could tell. Can anyone tell me if I was to change the settings on the control panel so it operates as if the system was fully pumped and I was wrong what would the impact be if any, basically could I break anything by 'having a mess'?

You won't break anything, you just won't get independent control of the ch and dhw.
