Problem working wiring our for bathroom light

I am replacing an old bathroom light.

The old light had 3 red wires together, 3 black wire together and a single black wire connected directly into the light.

The new light only has a brown and blue (neutral) and a very small connector.

I used a new large connector block and connected

3 red = brown
3 black = blue
1 black = connector only

The light were permanently on.

Other combinations either don't work or blow the fuse box

Any ideas please

Please, use the FOR REFERENCE to get wiring diagrams.

Can you remember how the groups of wires were connected to the old light?

I would try:

3 reds - in a connector on their own (not connected to anything except them selves)

3 blacks - connect to the fitting neutral wire (blue)

Single black* - connect to the fitting live wire (brown)





*The single black should have a piece of red sleeving or tape put on it if it doesn't already.

or better still...some brown sleeving or tape

No. It should be red sleeving (or tape) not brown.

This is an old colours install, so old colours sleeving should be used.
