Hello, help or advice please.

I have a new laptop, dual core with windows vista. I also have a new Belkin ADSL modem. My ISP is AOL with a BT connection. AOL have given me the login details to reconnect to AOL.

I have configured the ADSL using the yellow ethernet cable and can connect to the internet with cable. However when I unplug the cable I lose the internet connection, the laptop recognises the ADSL in wireless mode but when I try to connect it says I am connected but will still not open internet and says ``unable to connect``.

When using the set up disc, I was not asked for or given a WEP code.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Have you enabled MAC filtering on your Belkin router? If you have then turn it off as it just makes life inconvenient for you but doesn't add any real security.

I very strongly advise you to enable WPA (not WEP, it's broken) encryption on your wireless network.

Did you set your own SSID on the router? If not it's possible (but unlikely) that next door are using the same thing and you're connecting to them by mistake.
