Hi all. I am looking for a definiative answer on rendering a block garden wall i have recenently built (step by step)

I am used to plastering inside and have all the necessary equipment, however I have never rendered.

Do i have to buy a plastic float.

Do i wet the wall first.

What is the correct mix of materials i need ( idiots guide please)

Do i need to put on two coats.

Finally is there anything else i need to consider.

Help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

4:1:1 sand, cement lime scratch coat with added waterproofer.
5:1:1 2nd coat floated up and finished with sponge.
