PTFE tape or not?

Put one of these in to replace a faulty one, do I need to tape the threads at the bottom of a fill valve? Will it hurt if I do?

No tape but check for the washer inside the Nut that makes the seal

It uses a flat seal, PTFE on the thread won't do a thing.
