Pub bench restoration

I’ve been given a good quality pub bench today, it’s looking weathered but still in good condition, can anyone recommend a good oil/stain to bring it back to life?
Also am I best of sanding it first??
 
Old English oil might help if its to restore/renovate.

The alternative is a more fundamental stripping and sanding, followed by new stain.
