I am hoping that someone on this forum has the information that I have failed to find despite several hours of trawling the internet :( :(

I am looking to find a list of the companies that actually own the public houses in this country

If I was willing to fork out £500 I could get a report on the brewing industry but am hoping to get the info much cheaper than that (for free !!! )

Since the enforced selling off of pubs by the breweries, there seems to have been a deluge of buying and selling and its difficult to get a definitive answer

Any publicans here ??

Thanks

Does this work for you?

If you click around on the companies you should be able to get press reports, and can request a copy of the annual report.

I think there will be some Office of Fair Trading, or Monopolies Commission reports as well, because there are controls on monopolies owning large numbers of pubs. they may know which company comtrols how many because this is very relevant to them.

Cheers John

Looked at the Money Extra site and got a list of the big players, then found a very informative Monopolies Commision report from 1997

The picture has changed drastically since then !!

I think I must be too logical in my searching

Try CAMRA. I know the CAMRA handbook contains the information you want so perhaps the website has the same. The handbook makes great reading anyway!

Also try Protz on Beer.
