Public transport, is it really possible to live without a car?

How things have changed in my lifetime. When I was an apprentice I would leave work and busses would be lined up the length of Treforest Ind Est. In my 2nd year a boy a year above me got a car. He lived up the Rhondda but dropped me off in my town. Now everyone has a car. No one I know uses public transport.

In North Wales, I had no need for a car, buses into Chester and Mold every ½ hour, less if I walked to main road, and the buses were full, ran from around 6:30 am to 11 pm, but here in Mid-Wales depends on the time of year.

Trains only run in the summer, nothing early morning or late at night other than 10th and 11th of July, when we have a night train for the beer festival.

Special buses run for the school, as no public transport. Just three buses a day.
