Please help!

Pull cord came out of the light when I tried to turn it off. I have read other postings which say it is best to replace the fitting, which is fine. But the light is still on, the fitting is off the wall, and because it is in the bathroom, no doubt the electics will get damp.

I can't replace the fitting until after the weekend, but the bathroom will be used by my flatmate.

What can I do to turn off the light and keep the wires dry until I get a new fitting?

Or just buy a Compact Fluorescent (economy) bulb and leave it on. An 8w lamp will run for 125 hours for less than 10p, so who cares if it's on?

An ordinary 60w bulb will run for about 16 hours for less than 10p, so no big deal.

Unless somebody is squirting the shower at the light fittings, or you have competitive small boys, they will not get damp. A bit of steam won't hurt them.
