Evening all

If anyone can assist on a much worn topic, it would be much appreciated.
i have looked through numerous threads on the above but with no luck.

On returning from a few days away, the low system pressure light was on on the above boiler.
i topped up the pressure through the filling loop, from under 1, to approx 2, (prob too much?)
however, the light remains on, and no CH or hot water available.

i have also drained all radiators.

i am now stuck!

Thanks

Low pressure switch blocked/worn/stuck :(

most likely the lowpressure switch is blocked with sludge, very common...

easy fix, drain boiler remover switch, clear and put back on.. clean switch and connection but pushing a small thin screwdriver through the hole at the connection and the back of the switch (be carefull with the switch not to burst the diaphram by pushing too far...)

If this doesnt work a new one is aroun £12-15...

also disconnecting 1 connection to the switch will turn off the light but this should only be a temp repair till part unblocked or replaced !

[code:1]also disconnecting 1 connection to the switch will turn off the light [/code:1] leaves a live end. Can just unplug the plug lower left corner of the board. 2 yellow wires go to it.

does the sae job yes.. goes without saying to tape up the end disconnected however as we all know short term method till either fixed or replaced !!

Yes very important safety device for shutting boiler off when pressure too low which was lest out on the combi version mmm

yes strange that how the combi 80 is basically a puma80e minus the WPS and temp control knobs !! the WPS being left out was strange !!

Since there's no requirement for a pressure switch in the the boiler regulations, Potterton obviously made a mistake on the Puma.

Seeing this overspend they ditched it (along with the temperature controls) on the Combi models.

It probably helped offset the huge warranty call cost for all those design faults.

Manufacturers do the bare minimum to get there boilers appoved. Look at Vaillant - no pressure switch, no differential flowswitch - compare that with their older (bullet proof) models.

Hi, folks, am in possession of Puma 80(perm. pilot)and have been keeping it going recently by topping up the water daily just enough to keep within the red when cold, however it tends to eject water through the overflow although it is not over full ,still well within the red when running. The low pressure light does not show at all, but what happens is the pilot goes out if it falls into the low area.any help or suggestions??would be welcome asrobs.
