Does anyone know the method to get the right tension on these?

Sure, on the belts longest run, you should just be able to twist it 90 degrees with a finger and thumb.
Too tight and the belt will whine, too slack and it flaps.

Job done. I got a set of mini long nose pliers to turn the tensioner disc and did the belt twist test as you recommended.
Not such a bad job really.
Anti-freeze done also.
Just need the rain to stop so I can change the oil and sort the growl on the back brakes.
