What is the purpose of the flue sensing nipple on ideal boilers? Is it to test the flue discharge? I know you need to be gas safe to carrying out this kind of work was just intersted on its purpose.

slightly more than finger tight , doesnt need to be very tight as the pressure that the gasses are at are very small, easy to test if its leaking as you will feel warm air on your hand when placed near it when boiler is running if you are worried about it, as previously stated it is there to enable your service engineer to measure how your boiler is performing it has no user function whatsoever so you would never need to touch it

& if you use anything other your fingers to tighten it it will snap off then you can't use the boiler until it's replaced

Of course that implies that with it being an Ideal boiler it is working in the first place.

And not waiting for smeghead to rock up with a van load of parts
