Hi guys,
I recently had a new kicthen floor laid. The guys had to take off the old kickplates around the kitchen units so they could lay the floor under the units. The kickplates were really old and falling to bits, so I need some new kickplates. Is it a simple case of going to a shop to buy them (ie are kitchen units a standard width and leg height?) or do I have to get them custom made?
Thanks

You can buy kick-boards easy enough but they will require cutting down to size to fit reduced gap.

Thansk Foxhole. Can you recommend anywhere? Ive just checked HomeBase and they sell kickplates although it looks like its brand name only (I presume if you have a Samsung over then they sell the Samsung kickplate), I cant see any generic ones. Ill have a closer look later.

Might help if you were to look for "plinth" or even better "kitchen plinth" (what the kitchen trade refer to these as) rather than "kick plates". Basically it is 150mm/6in wide x 15 or 18mm thick MFC (melamine faced chipboard) with edge banding applied down both edges. You could even use 6in Contiboard. The only other things you'll need are plinth clips and a roll of iron-on edgings for the ends (and even that may not be necessary, depending on the design of the units)

Also available in chrome or brushed steel/metal effect plastic.
