Hi

I am about to install a floating Solid Oak T&G floor in my bedroom. I have the underlay but am confused by the glue/adhesive.

When I made enquiries about 8 months ago, I was told to use PVAC glue, now when I asked around various wood shops no-one knew what it was....I have found one made by "Tarketts" on the internet but to purchase it involves a delivery charge of £30.

Question, is there not an adhesive that is available in my local B&Q/Woodshop e.g. Evostik or do I need this specialist glue?

When applying the glue do I put it along the groove or the tongue? And how much, e.g. 6mm bead?

Approx how much glue for a 15 m2 room with 80 mm board of varying lengths

Any other advice gratefully accepted

Very strange that no one knows about woodglue (PVAC glue or water resistant dispersion glue) see here
You glue the full length of the groove

Yes, but the average shop assistant knows but little about glues, or anything else they sell........ As WYL says PVAc is a cross-linked (i.e. waterproof) PVA - just look for exterior grade PVA, such as Evostik Resin W in the blue bottles.

Thanks,

I guessed it would be the case. How much do you think I will need, approx?
