Hi guys,

My front door has a multilock system, it looks like it has 2 small 2 rollers and 2 small hooks on the long strip on the inside of the door.

When the door is unlocked i normaly open the door and the 2 small hooks will lock up into position and stay there until the handle is lifted up, and they would release to lock the door. The hooks wont stay up any more and are constantly in the lock position (always dropping down)

so now i have to hold the handle down, close the door and life the handle up just to close the door.

any ideas what could have caused this?

Thanks for any help

Ifr the hooks are just flapping about in the wind the its likely something has broken in the gearbox, the bit of the MPL where the handle and barrel is, to be fair without knowing what make of MPL you have its difficult to advise other than you need a new one.

Look up and down the 'long strip' to see if theres any makers names, if not you need to take it out and match up in various critical areas, don't worry its not rocket science. First remove the handle (2 screws) and spindle, remove the barrel (1 screw through the mechanism face plate), use your key to align the cam in the barrel to remove, usually about the 11 or 1 oclock position.

Remove all the self tapping style screws up and down the 'long strip', DO NOT remove the machine style screws, these hold the hook gearboxes on the back of the mechanism and there will be one above and below each gearbox FYI.

Then remove strip and match up with mechs on these sites........
