A week and a half ago I was given a PYE Monochrome TV which gave a good picture but no sound. I know its old but I would like to do something with it if I can. Anybody got any Idea what it is (I don't think its the speaker) and when I took the cover off it seems like I could have damaged/disturbed something as it now has field collapse. Could anybody help with anything here?

PS I have just got City and Guilds Level 3 6958 Electronic Servicing Certificate last summer so I have an idea what to look for.

Breezer, I can undertand binning the TV but why the certificate as well?

Seriously, I can understand if you want to play with it as a "project" for learning etc (unfortunately I can't advise you), but if you just want a TV to use you can get a brand new 14" colour portable for about £45 from Asda or Argos, so it hardly seems worth wasting your time on.....

Well, unless you are familiar with this chassis, you would need a service manual which you may be able to source from here.

It's obviously very old, so if the frame chip is u/s, you would probably be hard pressed to find one, and, as has been mentioned, unless it's just curiosity, it's just not worth it.
