See? If he hadn't been speeding, just stayed in the middle sky lane at or just below the speed he was supposed to have been doing, none of this would have happened

Explosive decompression was tested by Mythbusters and found to be false - at least as far as windows are concerned - the only way they could achieve it was with...explosives!

This is more likely to be down to metal fatigue or suchlike.

Qantas said to be the safest of airlines, this will be a black mark against them!

not much though. iirc they are one of the few to never have had a plane crash, at least not in the traditional sense, dont know if this is a crash or not.

It was that thing off the Twilight Zone episode that done it. You can see the teeth marks

It's only a crash if it comes into contact with something (normally the ground or another aircraft) in a manner not actually intended

This would be classed as a serious untoward incident.

The location is a little odd for an ED ... Doors, panels and windows are the usual places ... Stress fatigue would seem a likely cause as someone has already mentioned.

Doesn't look like there's much major damage though just skin panels and loss of compression.

I doubt it John ... The damage is far too light and contained to be a collision IMO.

But mythbusters do not get everything right
