I removed 3x bricks for inspection of cavity, which now need re-fitting.
Will someone give me an estimate of how much mortar I'll need to re-fit them please? (I have the lime for the mix)

Just a quick tip about replacing a single brick. When you butter the top of the brick and push it in you'll normally find it pushes back out. easiest way to stop this is to smear the bottom of the brick above with mortar which helps keep the mortar on top in place as you push it in.

I guess you mean that the mortar on top of the brick pushes out, not the whole brick, then ok.
I was thinking about your previous comment regarding cement pushed into the cavity, and thought, any mortar on the brick, may get pushed back out, but any mortar on the bricks in the hole may get pushed into the cavity.
Anyway I'll remember your tip.

The best way is to damp down the area first. Then lay a bed of mortar and butter the perps in a wedge shape, the same with the top of the hole. Butter the perps of the brick you are putting in with a wedge that goes the opposite way, so they fit together like folding timber wedges would. Do the same with the top. This way you should find the brick goes in without losing too much mortar.
