gcol,

I'm in the middle of a full kitchen refit including removal of a couple of walls and replastering the full room once finished

The customer wanted a new floor. Old tiles removed and new tiles fitted. I have worked extensively with amtico flooring and I'm aware of the importance of a latex based screed prior to fitting amtico or karndean to asphalt floors.

However, I noticed that the old tiles had been placed directly on the asphalt without any kind of screed? Is this normal practice and if the new ones are fitted in the same way will that be ok ?

I have to say, i don't really get involved with ceramic floor tiles but unfortunately i cant persuade the customer to go down the lovely warm amtico flooring route.

Cheers
