Questions about the way my house is wired

What max ampage can the SWA cable I have take?
Depends how it's installed. http://www.batt.co.uk/upload/files/4d4a_copy1.pdf

As above, think this cable is 2.5mm internal twin and earth. A quick google suggests this can take 27A.

SWA is in ground so with 4core 2.5mm squared that chart shows 24A capacity.

The T&E is "in a wall" for barely a few inches (the thickness of a wall) then is in free air, then back through a wall and then clipped in trunking along a wall (not in it). So god knows what that would take. The total length from the spur to last socket is only about 6 metres.

You need to consider all cables connected to the 16a MCB.

It doesn't sound like you need any more capacity in the garage.
