Quick Bathtub question...

Hey everyone,

Do bathtubs expand when full of hot water?

I ask because my new tub fits to the mm against the (plasterboarded) walls on either side of the bathroom. I'm thinking it might crack if it does expand?

My other option is to cut out the plasterboard on one side so as to leave some room for play before tiling.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

The expansion isn't a consideration but you may find that the inevitable slight movements cause the bath to squeak when in use - a bead of silicone between the outside edge and the surrounding boards usually solves it.
