We need to drill holes in the floorboard for the pipes to come up to the radiator. The pipe distance is given as radiator width (628) + valves. This is the valve:

628+57+57 makes 742mm but the radiator supplier said 720mm. Is that because the thread will pull it in by 10mm each side? Thanks

When the radiator is fitted complete with valves...then drill the holes otherwise they're bound to be in the wrong place, never assume a manufacturers diagram is correct.

You are forgetting the thread needs to be fully engaged into the radiator?

Just put the valves into the rads and then measure.

You need to know what the pipe center is after the thread has been fully engaged, not with the full length of thread still exposed, otherwise you will fit it and find you have measured 2 full thread lengths extra

I thought you might say that :( The delivery of the radiator is delayed and it's holding us up so was hoping to at least get the pipes in place and the floorboard back. Thanks.

There are too many woeful posts on here showing the state of some misaligned radiator pipework. You may as well just waiting until they arrive or risk an unhappy customer. :)

It's my own place so no one to blame but myself, but you're right - don't want to ruin an otherwise good job so far. Thanks.
