Quick plinth heater question

Just a quick question...

I want to fit a hydronic plinth heater where the fan comes on automatically whenever the heating is on.

With plinth heaters, does the fan come on automatically when the unit detects warm water flowing through, or would I have to fit an external flow switch on the feed/return to achieve this?
