Hi. Just a quickie.

I've been contacted today by a mate who is installing Wickes UFH. He has a 1000W kit and a 300W kit, totalling under 6A.

Despite the kit being made by WarmUp, it does not have WarmUp's standard control unit, just a thermostatic probe switched manually. He would like to add some form of 7 day timeswitch (a single channel CH programmer would be ideal), with the ability to advance and maybe boost.

I thought of Smiths FST 17, but am not sure it can be advanced or offers boost.

The trouble with a CH Prog is that the switchable current is limited to 3A.

Anyone know any programmers that can switch 6A?

Or alternatively, is anyone familiar with Smiths Timer Spur unit?

Can it be advanced to the next program, and does it offer a boost facility?

Cheers folks!

Immersion heater timers will be suitable.

edit: any good? 24hr timer with boost, Timeguard available from Maplin
Timeguard also does a 7day version but doesn't have boost.

Hi Mate,

I have a lot of underfloor heating in my house, some of it is the warmup kind.

Be wary of a boost type button on the timer, my experience is that in most cases the floor takes a good couple hours to heat up suficiently, especially in the hot weather, so the idea of boosting doesn't really work, i.e you need to know in advance when you want the floor heated.

Well worth the money though, I wouldn't be without my heated floors now! :)
