1: you can get earth sleeving in a range of sizes. 3MM sleeving will often fit, altho you can get it bigger

2: dont buy from b&q. its that simple.

thanks andrew,

Example: 25metres 10mm T+E Screwfix = £37
b&q £52

your right steer clear

supersparks, i never bought it, that was just for information purposes...when i do have to buy cable, and i mean if, i use screwfix, but needed some before tomoz so priced it up at bq....im no mug mate

never herd of a electrical wholesalers?

ok you need to be trade to get the discount, assume you are, if your using screwfix and buying by the 25 meter then that is a mug game

my wholesalers got me 100meter drum of 10mm twin for 66 quid

60 quid for 50 is about right. Your cable must have been very warm....

you got nothin better to do breezer than to post a useless load of sh*te, these forums are for constructive information.
And since when did John feckin McEnroe shop at screwfix...mmm...mmm

unfortunatly they are just my local one, been using them for years, dont do VAT on cash mate, i take it back scoob aint a mug :)

this was about december time last year, harmonised, not the best quality stuff, but BASEC all the same.

it highlights either what mark up they put on cable or how bent my wholesalers are :o

How do you judge the quality of a cable? I'd sort-of assumed they were all the same, assuming they are up to the specs, of course,.

Are there known-good and bad manufacturers of cables? (Screwfix seem to do Pirelli).

Are there any that are particularly easy to work? I find that most cables seem to be much "harder" than I'd like, especially when trying to lose the extra in a backbox...

Cheers,

Howard

pirelli, BICC and AEI my three favorites, HANNI is a make which is sold by my wholesaler about £4 cheeper than pirelli, its ok in the warm but not great, isulation stiff ect, and when its cold its horrible to work with, the likes of pirelli keep supple down the bottom end of workable tempreture
