Quote for floor

Just got a quote for a rectangle room 21sqm to lay vital flooring. £2250 plus vat so that’s around £128 per sq m.

That’s labour only in a herringbone fit.

Surely that can’t be right, getting other quotes in but was expecting 2-3 days work maybe £900 total ?

What’s the preparation needed ?

Was looking at amtico but the quote was only fitting. Floor will be cleared solid base. (Won’t know for sure until carpet is up and tiles removed, might need some self levelling), freshly plastered no skirting, clear room.

Labour on fitting amtico herringbone we charge £30m2 plus vat so approx £630 plus vat.
Supplying amtico signature approx £1500 plus vat
Adhesive £65 inc vat
Prep depending but a normal 5mm smoothing compound £250 / £300 plus vat

Still waiting on other quotes. Definitely fit only. I’ve questioned why so high can’t think it would take more than a Few days to lay. I appreciate herringbone is more work involved ‍

Second quote form a flooring company supply only (amico form) £1300. Fitted £3700.
So £2400 for fitting I estimated at 25sq so for herringbone £96 psqm including all adhesive etc.

Another quote just came in which included my hallway so now approx 30m2, £4800. Or £158 pm2 again clear floor area, seems mad!

Might have to go for a click laminate I lay myself in 2 days for £14 pm2 (£500 total.)

big difference between your quotes and Dazlights indicative costs

but then Merseyside and Sussex are quite difference

I’m near Crawley,

Just had a 4th quote for 30m2 and again £4500 so £150 psqm for amtico form supply and fit seems like the going price around here.

I’m quite tempted to just buy some off the shelf stuff at wickes (£20-£30 psqm) and lay it myself just worried it will look **** in 3-5 years and being a kitchen will be a pain to replace under/around the units.

Is it one coat of screed
Liquid Dpm ?
