R.I.P Ronnie Biggs

Dubya, When it was on the BBC breakfast news that Biggs had died, they were interviewing someone who'd reported on the crime in the 60's and it was mentioned about Jack Mills. Even that elderly reporter was careful to point out that Jack Mills had died of leukaemia. Not as a result of the beating he received during the heist. (seems that a lot of people assume he died as a result of the robbery) Also, quite a lot of people assume it was Biggs who administered the coshing. (falsely too)

my post was a bit tongue-in-cheek. If the world can mourn the death of Mandela who signed off people's deaths in his younger years, then why not Biggs?

One would hope that Mandela was trying to achieve something other than a fast buck for himself.

Maybe not, but Mandela's successor is certainly in it for the money. But then, he is an African leader. Goes with the territory.
