If the thermostat was fitted to the wrong side of the rad would this effect it getting hot.I've done the bleed bit with boiler off and rads warm. Its a double about 1200w.It does get warm but not what i would expect with the thermo on 6. Can i test it by hand, like the hottest pipe in..

TRV's these days are usually bidirectional (but its best to put them on the flow anyway)...
Why not take the plastic top off completely and see if the rad gets hotter?

Usually by undoing a knurled round nut below the plastic valve body - they are only finger tight but if they've been on a while, some large pliers would help.

Yes i took it off and pushed the pin up and down a few times to make sure its not sticking, left it off and its still the same.Could there be a massive air lock? Only when i bleed it no air comes out,and the bottom of this rad is luke warm.

It could be an air lock, blockage or a simple balancing needed.
have a look at the FAQ's on balancing, and go for this first.
John :)
