I had my rads replaced recently.
The edge (about 5 inches) of the kitchen rad now runs under the worktop. Clearance between rad top and worktop underside is 2.5 inches.
Is there any danger of scorching the worktop? It is a 1980s chipboard and plastic laminate type.
I have selotaped a section of aluminium foil under, just in case. But maybe the selotape is more of a fire risk?!

If your rad is getting hot enough to scorch wood then your thermostat is set way too high

It should be ok because air cannot provide the continual contact at the required high temperature to create a scorch mark.
