Radial to Ring main - Junction boxes?

Converting to a ring is not against BS7671.
It is not recommended, based on what is in the OSG.

However if the aim is to increase the capacity of the circuit so that a greater load can be drawn, surely a better option would be to split it into two separate 20A radial circuits?

Incidentally, you shouldn't refer to the cable as '2.5mil' as that doesn't mean what you think it does.
