Not sure this is good but I found a great way of bleeding major air from system.
1) Turn off system and wait for pump overrun to cease.
2) Close both valves on rad
3) Open bleed valve and hold suitable receptacle under valve to collect water untill it stops flowing.
4) Once water stops open flow valve
5) After air stops flowing and water appears again, close bleed
6) Close flow valve
7) Open bleed
8) Open return
9) When water flows again and all sounds of air expulsion have finishef close bleed
10) Open both valves to their balance
I remove heaps of air with this method, admittedly it was after a flush and fill but the theory may work
