i am just a newbie and need help please...i've have a baxi boston 2 rs, floor standing room sealed, gas fired central heating. i have it off this summer but when i turned it on the water is warming up but the some radiator were not warming and some warm but not much. even if i put the thermostat knob in full. i found out that the boiler was fitted 6 years ago and last serviced five years ago. i also heard a lot of banging in the loft and different pressure in the water in the cisternwhen i first run the boiler. have tried everything from bleeding the radiator, balancing the heat which i have read from the forums here. is there any way i could sort it out myself or do i need to phone in the professional. i'm quite worried because winter is approaching and i have a 6 mo old baby. your help is very much appreciated. many thanks.

sorry mate couldn't really stay in the computer that long, was looking after the baby the mom was doing night shift last night.

I not really sure im its running its seems quite. is this normally quite when running?

Does it need to be on, or the boiler is running? I trust u kev, but is it alright, coz im worried about fiddling with this thing, what is it got to do with the boiler as i didnt touch anything when i turn my boiler off, just clarifying really.

you can't do any harm might get a bit of water out

the pump is liable to be sticking having been off for the summer

it pumps the water round the radiators

even in the boro

youre a genius kev, thank you very much. as soon as i stick a small screw i could here the pump run. i checked all the radiators and they are perfectly fine, heat were equally distributed. i might be asking too much kev, but i want to have my boiler serviced because its been 5 yrs since the last one. can you give an advice what sort of maintenance does my boiler needs, or what might go wrong in the near future so i could somehow avoid paying too much on repair just in case. i really appreciate your help mate.

not a lot you can do really

some cleanser in there won't hurt for a couple of weeks then a drain and inhibitor

slugbaby is in the boro

if he ever got back from holland

have a look for one of his posts

unless you wanna pay my travelling

and a fast black over the river to the pool

near the boiler or look for the low points in the system

messy na but keep an old towel handy

all you have to do is turn the water off and put a hose on the drain BEFORE you open it

i might as well buy all the stuff that i need before i ask for guidance.how about changing the timer can i do it myself? its looks complicated though, because mines a very old one you can only set it twice in 24 hrs. how about trv and room thermostat can i do it myself? sorry for asking too many question mate i just want to know what i can do myself so i could save some pennies as i'm just a working student at the the moment and cant afford hiring someone and possibly be rift off. i'm concentrating on central heating because winter is approaching.

what model timer money on randall

trv's you can change but requires drain down

room stat

depends how good you are with electrics

if your gonna go down that road a programmable room stat might be a better bet

i took a picture of the timer as i cant see any model or brand nameand i think who ever fitted this is not good enough. british gas, i think
