Hi,

I’ve had a plumber I’ve used numerous times before come to move a radiator in my house which meant adding new pipes.

however the connections he’s used are now sitting proud of the floorboards so I’m doubtful that the carpet will now lay flush over this.

granted there are joists he’s needed to cut into for the connections, but I would have expected these could go down further to finish flush.

Am I just being over-picky or is this acceptable and does anyone think this will allow for the carpet to finish flush?

mine is around 10mm proud and the other 15mm.

many thanks.

Oh dear, all he needed to do was solder some of those connections or at least take the connection through the joist earlier so the copper could have then run along inside the joist and then the tail could have been bent slightly at the bottom to allow it to come lower down before the connection. That's not very good TBH.

Thickness of underlay will help a bit.

Chopping more out of the joist is not good structurally.

(I find it humorous that just as I am learning to solder pipes, the “pros” are all using push-fit for everything...)

When you said "Plumber", I think what you meant to say was "handyman who does a bit of plumbing". I don't know any proper professional plumbers who would make those joints with plastic push-fit elbows.

By the looks of that your "plumber" has never heard of solder or a pipe bender.
