radiators not working

I had an ideal response boiler before and had a viessman boiler installed.now its not working.the radiators are not working and the plumber is saying that because we had a vertical radiator installed he says we need to upgrade the pipes or put back the old radiators.but even the old radiators we have upstairs are not working like they use to. Is the plumber talking rubbish?

We have not seen your boiler, pipework or radiators!

But if they really worked before then they should work with the new boiler.

We dont know how it was before with the old boiler.

Is this viessmann installer gas registered and listed on the Viessmann web site?

He is registered.i swap the normal radiator in the lounge for a vertical one and added 2 more downstairs where we built the extension.they work but not the one in the lounge. It can take up to one hour for the radiators to come one.before with the old ideal response boiler we had no problem.he blamed the pipes and the 2 extra radiators.

were the new radiators added to 15mm pipe work or 22mm, what is the rest of the house in...

it could be balancing...but I installed a vertical radiator once and it didn't work. It was returned to the internet shop and a new one supplied and that did work...

It was connected to a 15 mm.we are thinking of swapping it with a radiator that works upstairs to see if it works.he is coming back in 2 hours to re try to balance the lot.

well there is part of the problem..opinions vary the maximum I put on 15mm pipe is one radiator, others go up to 4..it depends...on the heat output of the radiator as well as the rest of the system...

I think we have been down this "how many rads can i fit on 15mm" route before, what works on paper doesn't always work in the real world.

As implied (I think), some vertical rads are handed and will only work one way round.

Some have to be fitted with a bung to force water through all the channels- this has to be inserted correctly for the system it is being fitted to.

this is what i put in my lounge instead of the old white radiator i had. the plumber keeps on saying i need to change all the pipe work to a 22 mm and it will work. it was working before so i do not see how fitting a new boiler made the difference.
all we did was fitting a new boiler and 2 radiators which work in the kitchen.

Now, there's a question

Some vertical rads have a bar top and bottom with the vertical bits welded over predrilled holes.

There is nothing to stop the water shooting straight through the bottom bar and not up the vertical channels. to get past this the manufacturer ask that you insert a rubber bung into the bottom bar on the flow side to divert the water up and over, then back down the other side.

Don't know if that's the case for you though.
