Radon Mitigation Systems for Cleaner fresher air

Hello I am having a lot of difficulty getting radon companies to visit and quote for a Radon fan. Our home looks an easy job as it is a bungalow with floorboards all over and not big. We have contacted 3 fairly local companies, had a conflab about it by email then nothing? We live in Devon and happy with the quoted cost but we cant get a booking? Has anyone got an underfloor radon fan and who fitted it please and what are your experiences of it?

Why are you messing about with emails?

When a company gives an email address we are glad because my husband is hard of hearing. I write the correspondence and get the responses in writing and it is a good way to record quotes, details etc for reference later. We both prefer email and there has to be a visit at home anyway for face to face discussion.

Maybe so but there's no substitution for speaking especially in the construction industry where contractors know it's all too easy to bang out some emails rather than dealing face to face. Why do you need a radon fan anyway?

Having been given some poor or misleading information in the past over other things we better trust people who will put their quotes in writing and answer a couple of leading questions too. We have an enduring soil smell in one room of the house which has defied diagnosis by plumbers and builders so far. Some other bungalows on same road have described the same problem. We read that fans intended for Radon extraction via airbrick space under floor level can extract odours, moisture and bad air. Lowering any possible Radon levels would be a bonus, but we were not too bothered about that even though we do have a moderatel risk in our area.
