They didn't invade the base, they just hung around the perimeter looking like dodgy geezers. If anyone had shot them it would have been murder, of course they weren't at any personal risk.

Five blokes in three fake signed vans is not a wind up. They were there on business of some kind. It is inconceivable that releasing them on pre charge bail is appropriate if there was any real suspicion of their involvement in terorrist activity knowing or unknowing.
