I want to attach rafters/joists to a wall plate but at a sloped angle. The drawing is looking from the side on. Can l just screw through into the wall plate or do l need to use strapping of some sort? Hope that makes sense. Thanks

Rafters need to sit on the ledger plate so that the load is vertical and the roof does not spread sideways.

Also this allows the top tile batten/tile to be suitably close to the wall.

It's actually a lowered ceiling underneath my existing conservatory ceiling as l didn't want to put any weight on the frame work. It will then be plasterboarded, so l need a finish to the wall. I may have to frame a small flat section if l birdmouth it on top of the ledger board?

Isn't it easier with joist hangers.

Blup
