Well i think they can ricicle have yea ever watched fawty towers i beleive their was a major in that who still used is title, and the other gizzer who wants to be a millionair.

yes if they are of field rank (not sure what that means, I believe it includes Majors, Colonels and up, don't think it includes Lieutenants and down).

I think it fell out of fashion in the 1970's when the IRA was likely to try to kill you if they could see you were retired from the forces (e.g. Louis Mountbatten)
