Hello

I have one of these Rauch wardrobes and need to make it 1cm narrower (corrected) to fit in its alloted space. I can cut down the base and top with the circular saw, except that they use these fittings (see pic) to attach to the side. I can't remove these fittings.

Does anyone know how they are fitted (bonded in?), if they are removable, and where to get replacements?

If not, how should I best replace them? I guess angle brackets or furniture blocks but they aren't the neatest. I don't think I have the accuracy to set my own cam locks!

Thanks

Purely a guess but these block fittings are usually held in with two dowel pegs......can you try gently levering one up?
John :)

Why cut it up, 1cm is tiny and the walls will be out slightly ?
Did you take the skirting into account?
If it's wider the doors will be too narrow?

Thanks for suggestions.

I have tried levering them up with a screwdriver and palette knife until I think the nylon is about to break. No joy.

I have already removed the skirting.

Yes, the (traditionally plastered) walls get wider further up. The wardrobe is too wide to fit in the alcove at floor level. I guess I could chisel away some of the plaster but that seems to be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

The wardrobe has sliding doors, so losing a small amount of width will have no effect on door function.

As Burnerman says, they're usually mounted on dowels. In my experience the factory fitted ones are usually pretty tight, and they're also toothed, resulting in either leaving part of the block in or breaking the board when you remove them.
Can't you replace them with the single block type of connector that uses screws instead of dowels?
